Sports & Recreation

Willmar Parks & Rec runs several adult sports leagues and youth recreation programs throughout the year. Adult Leagues include; Hockey, Softball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Youth recreation programs such as football, soccer, baseball, wrestling, and gymnastics, which put an emphasis on participation and fun with the goal of teaching and educating youth while helping create lifelong healthy habits.  

Adult League

Adult League Fees are due by the registration deadline listed for each league. A late fee of $50 will be charged for all payments received after the deadline. No registration will be accepted once the game schedule has been completed.

Basketball

Men’s Basketball
This league is played on Wednesday nights at the City Auditorium & Senior High School and includes the Gold (competitive) and Silver (recreational) divisions.

Businessmen's Noon Basketball
Sometimes we all just need a break from work. The City Auditorium will be open year-round for pick-up basketball games from 11:30 am - 1 pm; Monday through Friday (except for holidays and special events). Cost is $50 per year if paid by Jan. 15, or $60 if paid after that date. Fee includes locker room and shower access. 

Curling

With over 100 members, the Glacial Ridge Curling Club is a highly active club with approximately 150 high school students, 160 bonspiel participants, and GRCC facilitates or assists with six different curling programs and leagues. As members of the Minnesota Curling Association and the United States Curling Association“arena club” converts five sheets of curling ice twice a week. with a goal set to have a dedicated curling facility to continue to expand curling opportunities, develop stronger youth and adaptive curling programs, foster competitive curlers, and host a variety of curling events.

Guests and spectators are always welcome to visit our club and watch live curling games from our heated room and upstairs area. If you would like to try it come to a learn to curl session.

Softball

Willmar Parks & Recreation runs a variety of men's, co-rec, and church softball leagues during the spring/summer and fall seasons. All softball leagues in Willmar are governed by ASA rules.

Volleyball

Willmar Parks and Recreation offers a variety of indoor and outdoor volleyball leagues for adults throughout the year.

Adult Tournaments

Willmar Fests Tennis Tournament

This annual tennis tournament takes place during Willmar Fests in mid-June. Tournament play takes place at the Willmar Senior High tennis courts. There are brackets for all ages, including Youth, Singles, Doubles, and Mixed. (Note, please check brackets frequently, as changes may occur.) Willmar Winter Classic Women's Volleyball Tournament

This tournament has been going on for 30 plus years. It offers three different levels of competition to fit the types of all volleyball players. The levels include Power 1, Power 2, and Semi Power with all games of the tournament taking place at the Willmar City Auditorium and Roosevelt Elementary School. The tournament typically takes place the first week in March. 

Willmar Winter Classic Co-Rec Volleyball Tournament

This tournament takes place in late January and includes two levels of play Power and Semi Power. All games are played at the Roosevelt Elementary School gym.

Officials

Willmar Parks & Recreation is currently looking for sports officials. We offer a training clinic for all of our leagues to assist new officials in transitioning from the playing surface to becoming an official. For more information, please contact Ryan Scheffler at 320-235-1454.
